Osborne Cawkwell is a Registered Body with the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS), previously called the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). We also act as an umbrella body to help your organisation obtain checks.



For companies wishing to register with Osborne Cawkwell

Companies wishing to register under Osborne Cawkwell to carry out their staff's DBS checks should contact dbs@oc-ec.com, explaining who they are, what the company does and what role their staff has.

If we are able to help, the organisation will be sent some paperwork to complete the registration.

Our fees are as follows:

  1. One-off £50* registration fee
  2. Standard disclosures cost £40* each
  3. Enhanced disclosures cost £58* each

*These fees are inclusive of our administration charge and VAT.

For applicants or tutors applying through an organisation that is not Osborne Cawkwell

Enhanced Disclosures are required for those regularly caring for, training, supervising and being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults. They cost £58*.

Standard Disclosures are required for positions of high responsibility, for example: accountancy and security. They cost £40*. *These fees are inclusive of our administration charge and VAT.

To apply for a disclosure, you will need email dbs@oc-ec.com to make an appointment to come in to apply.

You will need to bring the following items:

  1. A chronological list of your full addresses for the past 5 years (including university, years abroad etc.), starting with your current address and ending with where you lived five years ago
  2. Cash or a cheque for £58 made payable to Osborne Cawkwell
  3. Your national insurance number
  4. Proof of identity - we need to see a minimum of 3 original documents - popular documents include passport, driving licence (only valid with the paper counterpart), birth certificate, P45/P60, bank or building society statement, utility bill (these need to have been issued in the last three months)

If you do not have three documents from this list, please have a look at the full list of routes and documents accepted by the DBS.

If you have already applied but not yet received your Disclosure, you can use the DBS Tracking Service inputting your form reference number as well as your date of birth.

For tutors working through Osborne Cawkwell

As a tutor on our books you are required to obtain an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). An Enhanced Disclosure is required for those regularly caring for, training, supervising and being in sole charge of children. We accept disclosures that have been issued by another organization in the last year. If you do not have a recent one or have never applied for one, you will need to apply through us. Once the process is complete, you will receive your own disclosure at your home address.

You will need to apply when you come in for an interview and bring the following items:

  1. A chronological list of your full addresses for the past 5 years (including university, years abroad etc.), starting with your current address and ending with where you lived five years ago
  2. Cash or a cheque for £44 made payable to Osborne Cawkwell
  3. Your national insurance number
  4. Proof of identity - we need to see a minimum of 3 original documents - popular documents include passport, driving licence (only valid with the paper counterpart), birth certificate, P45/P60, bank or building society statement, utility bill (these need to have been issued in the last three months)
